About Sell My Business NZ

A New Zealand business brokerage built around three things: confidentiality, preparation and the right buyer.

Who we are

Sell My Business NZ helps New Zealand owners sell their businesses, and helps buyers find the right one to take on. It is all we do.

Working with us means expert knowledge of the New Zealand market, a wide network of buyers and advisers, strict confidentiality and a service that covers the whole sale. Our brokers have run businesses themselves and bring experience across the trades, hospitality, retail, manufacturing, transport and professional services, so the advice you get is grounded in how those businesses work.

We use our contacts and a confidential marketing approach to connect sellers with qualified buyers, and we manage the process so a sale is as smooth as it can be. We understand how sensitive a sale is for the owner, the staff and the customers, and every step is designed with that in mind.

Whether you are selling or buying, our service runs from the first conversation and the market appraisal through to negotiation, due diligence and settlement.

How we work

A sale is won in the preparation

Our best results come from businesses that were properly prepared before they went to market: clean financials, a clear story, an asking price the evidence supports and a buyer list built before the campaign starts. That is why every engagement begins with an appraisal rather than a listing.

Our commitment to confidentiality has earned the trust of owners who could not afford to have a sale become public knowledge. The business is never named until a buyer has been qualified and has signed a confidentiality agreement, and we handle the first round of questions ourselves so the owner's day is not interrupted.

We take pride in closing deals that meet, and often beat, the expectations our clients had at the start. Our clients' referrals are the best evidence of that.

Our experience

We have advised on business sales across a wide range of industries, from owner-operated local firms to larger companies with management teams in place.

That breadth matters. The buyer for a Christchurch engineering workshop is a different person from the buyer for an Auckland café group, and the way each business should be prepared, priced and marketed is different too. Our team brings industry knowledge to every engagement so the advice is specific, not generic.

We believe in long-term relationships. Many of our clients come to us years before they plan to sell, use an appraisal to set a target, and come back when the business is ready. Others come to us as buyers and return as sellers a decade later.

Whenever you are ready, we would like to hear about your business.
